And so we head off to Day 19 of this month. Here you all go!
Ahhh, this NaPoWriMo event has been super fun thus far!! If I look at my poetry document right now (the computer one), I would have around 121 poems! That makes me preen in satisfaction (don’t judge; I have a right to be proud of my failures :P). But onto the prompt!
We’ve got prince…shockingly inspired by Narnia again, that is to say, Prince Caspian. Not one of my favorites, but a lovely one all the same!
So here, I introduce “Prince.”
Once I knew safety and justice.
Once I was strong and secure.
Once I ruled a mighty fortress.
Once I lived in a place so pure.
But then I ran, I fled from it.
I lost my heart to a demon’s lure.
I who owned the mount’s summit
Found a vice I could not endure.
And so I ran, an exiled prince,
To return only to face my death.
I wandered, entrapped, ever since,
Lost forever on my winding path.
I failed to walk my duty’s call,
And now I fail to traverse this road.
Thus, here I am inside these walls
Where judgment weighs upon my load.
I’m slipping from Life’s loose hold
And calling, weeping for my past,
For the purity that I once sold.
But this toll on me will not last,
For a song is calling in my ear.
It’s Death and I await its judgment,
And I can’t help but shake with fear,
For I will go to where I was meant.
And so I close my eyes and sigh,
My shame all said, my sorrow free.
Hands reach through the walls so high,
Out of my cage they are pulling me.
I follow, blind, but at last free,
Though I know I walk to hell’s valley.
Then a silent whisper I can nearly see
Smiles, “You are found. Come reign with me.”
I hope the meaning was clear here.
And with that, *waves until tomorrow*
